As we continue our Awakening Our True Self Series, we begin a series of classes on the Four Brahma Viharas or the Four Radiant Abodes. This class is all about coming into your true home, in your physical body. This yoga class will connect you with your root chakra, your legs and feet and will calm your mind and your central nervous system. The yoga postures or asanas will bring your breath into your lower belly, stretch out your low back, hips, and groin. There are yoga postures to connect you with your feet, strengthen your feet, ankles and legs. The yoga postures are centering and grounding. Balancing postures will help you develop your balance and grow roots deep into the ground. Our inversion will open up the backs of your legs, relieve stress and help you to let go on a deep level. Our yoga class will finished with a reclined twist and forward fold for extra grounding and connection with your feet and pelvis. Final Savasana or Corpse Pose will relax your nervous system, calms your mind, relieves stress and anxiety.
In our first class on the Four Brahma Viharas or the Four Radiant Abodes we will explore what it means to come home to our natural dwelling place of love, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity. These are our true homes where we most naturally relate to ourselves and others. This is a practice of cultivation, of planting the seeds so that the qualities of love, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity can grow in our lives. When we live in this home, these qualities become our natural dwelling place and they can expand in our lives.
